Like George Bernard Shaw, Y Not Studios also asked “Why Not?” and since then, has never looked back. Founded in 2009, Y Not Studios is a joint venture between Producer S. Sashikanth, Sanjay Wadhwa and Reliance Entertainment. It started its journey with Tamil cinema’s first parody film ‘Thamizh Padam’ and went on to produce critically acclaimed films like ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi’ (2013), ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’ (2014) and ‘Kaaviya Thalaivan’ (2014).
In 2016, it produced Sudha Kongara’s sports drama ‘Irudhi Suttru’, which was made in three different languages. It went on to produce Pushkar–Gayathri’s crime drama ‘Vikram Vedha’ (2017) and Prasanna’s comedy drama ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’ (2017).
