Singham was produced by Reliance Entertainment, starred Ajay Devgan and was directed by Rohit Shetty. The film garnered huge success at the box office and was one of the highest grossing films of 2011. The film stands tall in the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
Now, after the super success of Singham in 2011, Reliance Entertainment, Ajay Devgan Films and Rohit Shetty Productions, will come together to co-produce its sequel, Singham 2. This blockbuster in the making will be helmed by its original director Rohit Shetty.
Commenting on the association, Sanjeev Lamba, CEO Reliance Entertainment said, “Singham is a very important franchise for Reliance Entertainment. Singham exceeded all expectations and was a critical and commercial hit. We are delighted to take the franchise forward and co-produce Singham 2 with Ajay Devgan Films and Rohit Shetty Productions and have both Ajay and Rohit on board to take the story forward. The film goes on floors early next year and I am sure this also will be a treat for all Singham, Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty fans.”
Singham earned positive feedback from both the critics and the masses. Singham 2 will once again have Ajay Devgan flexing his muscles as the pulverizing power-house cop-Bajirao Singham. Commenting on the occasion Ajay says “The cult status and fan frenzy of Singham had reached such tremendous levels that we were happily compelled to make a second offering post its success. As soon as the right script was in our hands we went ahead.”
Fresh off the success of the all-time highest grossing block-buster Chennai Express director Rohit Shetty is super-excited to take things to the next level.

We did not want to get carried away with the success of the first part and at the same time we don’t want to take our audiences for granted as they have given us so much love and respect.”
Singham 2 is scheduled to go on floors early next year and will release globally mid 2014.
